Melissa & Chris, Featuring William!

Melissa and Chris – and their adorable little boy William – were married this Oct 22, 2016 at The Royal Ambassador. It was a chilly day out, but that didn’t stop everyone from getting out there and enjoying an absolutely glorious ceremony and a wedding party, who clearly brought the “party”… the dancing was outta sight and the food was to die for, as usual, at this venue. The day had everything you’d want, including a trash-the-dress with Chris taking a pair of scissors to Melissa’s dress in the washroom – totally the most hilarious we’ve ever walked in on! Check out some of our faves.

Corina & Derek were married in the height of this past Autumn, rich with trees, and golden colours. The day started at their home – where quite frankly, we wanted to stop shooting and dive into Derek’s sick boardgame collection! After an intimate tea ceremony, we headed toSt. Benedict’s Church for a wonderful exchange of vows. From there we took our Bride and Groom and explored all the corners we could find at King’s Riding lovely golf course. The Fantastic Mr. & Mrs. Fox!

What do you get when you mix film producers, film makers, writers, actors, singers, song writers, performers, directors and entertainers together – one hell of a good time LOL! We had the pleasure of shooting brad’s brother, Rob & Hayley ‘s wedding a few years ago and were honoured when our long time friend Brad asked us to shoot his own wedding to Katie in Calgary on June 25, 2016.  We jumped at the chance to head out to Calgary and spend the weekend with old friends full of love and laughter. We arrived on Friday just in time for their rehearsal dinner and some good conversation and some incredible belly laughs. Come Saturday morning we were ready and eager to start shooting knowing full well we would be exploiting the epic Alberta skies and taking advantage of every “nook and cranny”. Luckily for us, Katie and Brad were game for everything and anything. I think we had every possible type of weather – from sun, to cloud, to full thunderstorm showers, to sunset and even a rainbow on repeat throughout the day! It was Alberta in it’s full glory and we didn’t stop shooting ;) Congratulations Katie and Brad!!!

Adrienne & Michael – Huzzah!

Congratulations Adrienne & Michael on such a fabulous wedding on April 9, 2016! It was a SUPER early start, and pretty chilly for April, but that didn’t phase anyone. We knew from their engagement shoot that these two were going to be super fun to shoot and they did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of photographing their ceremony at St. Paul’s Basilica which is a gorgeous church downtown, Toronto. We then headed to underpass park to take advantage of the cool graffiti artwork before heading to the more traditional and cute setting of Kleinburg. The party continued at the new, Universal Event Space by Peter and Pauls. Check out the sneak peek images below.

A Swoon Worthy Affair!

Melissa and Jason were married on March 26, 2016 at the Liberty Grand in the historic CNE grounds in Toronto. This wedding provided the perfect backdrop for some major swoon worthy photo inspiration. From an Annasul Y Wedding dress to Manolo Blahnik shoes, we couldn’t have started the day out better ;) The Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Toronto provided the perfect spring setting for getting ready photos. We were thrilled when we found access to the waterfall and saw that the hotel windows had just been cleaned giving us a clear line of site :) We LOVED the reaveal in Nathan Philip Square. We then headed to Liberty Grand and the Princess Gates to capture incredible photos of these stunning folks! Check out the incredible flower arrangements in oversized candelabra’s as centerpieces for each table, combined with candle light and purplely blue up-lighting – this wedding was an epic affair.

Congratulations Wendy & Jess!

We were thrilled when Wendy and Jess asked us to shoot their fabulous wedding on Jan 15, 2016. I always love going back to “the Hammer” to shoot couples especially when we get to stop and places like the Staircase Cafe (where I spent alot of my Imponderable days) and La Salle Park. This was one wedding that was not to be missed!

How do I buy wedding photography?

Being in the midst of engagement and wedding show season, we hear this a lot: “How do I buy wedding photography?” “I am so overwhelmed,” “There are so many photographers to choose from, where do I start?”

These are all fair question with long and difficult answers.

It’s not uncommon for folks to start by trying to use price comparisons as a means of choosing their photographers. What most couples forget is that wedding photography is not as simple as choosing which produce to buy at the grocery store. For example, you can’t compare going to Tim Hortons with going to a fancy restaurant with a world renowned chef. It’s the same with photography – you can’t compare creativity, experience, and artistic vision by just looking at a price, as there is a wide range of talent and experience out there.

Wedding photography, like food, paintings, or furniture, is an art form. When you are buying art, the first thing is to find a style that best fits who you are as individuals and a couple. Find the photography that speaks to you, that makes you feel something, that makes you “oooh and ahhh”.

Remember, sometimes a simple photograph takes a TON of work… wedding photography is creatively rewarding but a very difficult job. As wedding photographers, we have no control over any of the variables that day (weather, late arrivals, venue) – but we are still going to create beautiful photos no matter what happens. The skill to do that, to use available light or creating light if none exists, is something that comes with experience and talent. As wedding photographers, the joy for us is the creative freedom you entrust to us – the trust to capture your memories and create breathtaking photos!

So take your time, do your research and set a realistic budget. Saving a few dollars won’t mean much if you end up hating most, if not all your photos… The money you invest is to ensure you get a style you LOVE and a photographer who has the experience to get it right the first time. These are the photos that are going to be in your family for generations; what your children and grandchildren will look at for years to come. It’s a documentation of the first day of the rest of your lives together as an official family.

So don’t sell the process short – be in love with the style you are going to buy and love the personality of the photographer who is going to deliver and create that for you.

Samantha & Jason’s Fantasy Farm Wedding

We were so excited that Samantha & Jason would be our first couple to kick off the 2016 season. It was a warm day considering it was Jan 9, 2016 and we took full advantage of the Fantasy Farm grounds. There were so many textures and areas to explore – we were absolutely thrilled with the result. Sam and Jason were up for anything – so laid back and trusting – what a pleasure working with these two awesome people. Congratulations Samantha and Jason!
