Melissa & Chris, Featuring William!

Melissa and Chris – and their adorable little boy William – were married this Oct 22, 2016 at The Royal Ambassador. It was a chilly day out, but that didn’t stop everyone from getting out there and enjoying an absolutely glorious ceremony and a wedding party, who clearly brought the “party”… the dancing was outta sight and the food was to die for, as usual, at this venue. The day had everything you’d want, including a trash-the-dress with Chris taking a pair of scissors to Melissa’s dress in the washroom – totally the most hilarious we’ve ever walked in on! Check out some of our faves.

Congratulations Heather and Sophol!

Heather and Sophol were married on Sept 10, 2016 at the Ancaster Mill in Ancaster, Ontario. The Ancaster Mill just added a GORGEOUS new indoor ceremony building and beautiful bridge – so we were so excited to be back in our old stomping grounds to experience and shoot in the new space. The moment we arrived at Heather’s we were greeted with such warmth and excitement, we felt like we were part of the family. That feeling continued all day which made shooting this wedding such an absolute pleasure. Heather and Sophol met at The University of Guelph over 7 years ago. Having a love of hiking and waterfalls, the Mill was the perfect spot for them. Check out the sneak peek below

Congratulations Mallory & Ben!

Mallory and Ben had a multiple day wedding celebration. We had full crews out with Sarah and Joe capturing July 29th and Danielle, Tony, Lisa, Joe and Ed capturing July 31st. Sarah and Joe had the pleasure of capturing the Groom Blessing ceremony on Friday, where Ben was covered it coconut water. The celebration continued on July 31st with both the photo and cinema teams capturing a gorgeous ceremony at Le Jardin. We started the day with Ben and his groomsmen getting ready and then headed to the girls. The first look was done at PAMA in Brampton – an amazing venue for photos! Mallory and Ben are such beautiful people and we were so overjoyed that we were able to capture such a momentous moment in their lives. There were so many amazing photos captured – we had a really hard time narrowing it down to the sneak peek below.

Congratulations Theresa & Chris!

Theresa and Chris were married July 9, 2016. These two are the absolute nicest couple and from the moment you see them together, you know how much they are in-love. We absolutely adored the time we spent together. It was a full day of shooting, starting with the boys getting ready in the morning and then heading to the hotel to meet the girls. We then headed to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the ceremony followed by photos at the Markham Museum (which we LOVE). We spontaneously stopped at the new Carousel in downtown Markham – this has got to be one of the COOLEST Carousels we have seen!!! Congratulations Theresa and Chris!

Sylvie & Bjon’s Spectacular Wedding

Sylvie & Bjon were married May 21, 2016 at the beautiful Sunnybrook Estates. We were so excited when they chose us to be their photographers and cinematographers for their wedding day – we knew instantly that this was going to be an incredible wedding. The morning took place at the condo downtown. We then headed two minutes away to Prince’s Gate at CNE for the reveal followed by underpass park for photos. The ceremony was one of the most absolutely beautiful we have seen, full of emotion, dancing and love. Big smiles and glorious wedding excitement continued from the moment we arrived to well after we left for the evening. We absolutely fell in love with these two. Check out the sneak peek below.

Pamela & John are Married!

Pamela and John are two of the nicest folks we’ve ever met! We had an incredible day shooting these two. The moment we arrived at John’s at 7am, we were greeted with espresso and smiles – we couldn’t have asked for better start to our morning lol!  After shooting the guys and girls getting ready, we headed out to St. Jane Francis Church for the ceremony and then to Kortright Centre for photos. Kortright is one of those awesome spots where depending on the season, there’s always something new and cool to work with.  Let’s just say April gave us some incredible images :)The party continued at El Presidente and there was no lack of dancing :)

A Swoon Worthy Affair!

Melissa and Jason were married on March 26, 2016 at the Liberty Grand in the historic CNE grounds in Toronto. This wedding provided the perfect backdrop for some major swoon worthy photo inspiration. From an Annasul Y Wedding dress to Manolo Blahnik shoes, we couldn’t have started the day out better ;) The Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Toronto provided the perfect spring setting for getting ready photos. We were thrilled when we found access to the waterfall and saw that the hotel windows had just been cleaned giving us a clear line of site :) We LOVED the reaveal in Nathan Philip Square. We then headed to Liberty Grand and the Princess Gates to capture incredible photos of these stunning folks! Check out the incredible flower arrangements in oversized candelabra’s as centerpieces for each table, combined with candle light and purplely blue up-lighting – this wedding was an epic affair.

How do I buy wedding photography?

Being in the midst of engagement and wedding show season, we hear this a lot: “How do I buy wedding photography?” “I am so overwhelmed,” “There are so many photographers to choose from, where do I start?”

These are all fair question with long and difficult answers.

It’s not uncommon for folks to start by trying to use price comparisons as a means of choosing their photographers. What most couples forget is that wedding photography is not as simple as choosing which produce to buy at the grocery store. For example, you can’t compare going to Tim Hortons with going to a fancy restaurant with a world renowned chef. It’s the same with photography – you can’t compare creativity, experience, and artistic vision by just looking at a price, as there is a wide range of talent and experience out there.

Wedding photography, like food, paintings, or furniture, is an art form. When you are buying art, the first thing is to find a style that best fits who you are as individuals and a couple. Find the photography that speaks to you, that makes you feel something, that makes you “oooh and ahhh”.

Remember, sometimes a simple photograph takes a TON of work… wedding photography is creatively rewarding but a very difficult job. As wedding photographers, we have no control over any of the variables that day (weather, late arrivals, venue) – but we are still going to create beautiful photos no matter what happens. The skill to do that, to use available light or creating light if none exists, is something that comes with experience and talent. As wedding photographers, the joy for us is the creative freedom you entrust to us – the trust to capture your memories and create breathtaking photos!

So take your time, do your research and set a realistic budget. Saving a few dollars won’t mean much if you end up hating most, if not all your photos… The money you invest is to ensure you get a style you LOVE and a photographer who has the experience to get it right the first time. These are the photos that are going to be in your family for generations; what your children and grandchildren will look at for years to come. It’s a documentation of the first day of the rest of your lives together as an official family.

So don’t sell the process short – be in love with the style you are going to buy and love the personality of the photographer who is going to deliver and create that for you.

xoxo
