Caitlin and Marinko were married this September, which is quickly becoming the best month to have a wedding in Toronto. July and August have become so hot and sticky, we are seeing a big trend of couples choosing September and October for their wedding date. As such, the weather on their date did not disappoint. We first paid a visit to Marinko and the boys at Marinko's home in the woods to capture them getting ready (Freeman Formalwear).
Upon arriving at the bride's family home, you could feel a sense of coziness hit you. A wonderful home that was fantastic shoot in. Check out the intricate rings by Mark Lash and the sweet invites by Vistaprint. Caitlin's Meredith-style Truvelle dress (from Sash and Bustle) was perfect and having the girls (in their Jenny Yoo NYC dresses) help her with jewelry and Betsy Johnson shoes was an awesome bit of controlled chaos. Hands down, favourite part of the day was the First Look...right in front of Caitlin's family home with all the family and friends there to witness Marinko's awesome reaction!
With all the jitters out of the way, we headed to The Humber Arboretum, an excellent location for photos, as it has many differing features, all within a short walk.
With ceremony time approaching, it was time to head to Croatian Martyrs Church, We were "photographically blessed" when we arrived, as an amazing beam of sunlight was coming into the church through the window, creating a nice chiaroscuro effect . It made for some really gorgeous shots. After the ceremony, we did all the family formals, before heading out to Columbus Event Centre.
If there is a single place in Toronto we really enjoy shooting candid photos of cocktail hour, it's got to be the garden at The Columbus Centre. It's a great mix of brick, fountain, statues, trees, and lawn, lending for hundreds of photographic options, in a short time. And check out the florals by our friend Sharon at Coquette Studios
As dinner and reception rolled in, the party got hotter and hotter, with lots of dancing, food, music by the live band...And that cake by Sugar Suite Cakes! Wow.
